LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, Malzahar wins the 1v1 due to his passive shield absorbing your engage tools and his voidlings applying consistent pressure that forces you to spend health clearing rather than trading; post-6, the matchup flips significantly because you can steal his R, negating his primary kill threat and giving you a suppression to set up your own burst combo.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to wait for his passive shield to be down, then E in to proc your passive shield, chain Q for the heal, and immediately E2 out before his voidlings stack damage on you; extended fights favor you if you can sustain through the initial poke, but short trades where you take full voidling damage are losing.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave quickly using Q and W to deny him safe farming under his voidlings, then look to roam or force him to play without his passive shield up; letting the wave sit in the middle of the lane gives him free voidling farm and poke while his passive recharges safely.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not engage when his passive shield is active — this is the single most common mistake Sylas players make in this lane, as it wastes your E gap-close and leaves you exposed to his full combo without the burst damage you needed to justify the trade.
