Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Locke wins most extended trades because W's attack speed combined with passive on-hit scaling punishes you for staying in melee range, and Q nail stacks into E dashes deal significant burst if you let stacks accumulate on you.
  • Post-6, you gain meaningful agency since you can steal R for execution pressure and your Chain Lash into E-W burst can kill Locke during or immediately after their W window before the heal kicks in.

How to Trade

  • Your best trade pattern is to bait out Locke's E blink first, then immediately close with your own E-W combo while they are on cooldown and cannot reposition.
  • If Locke has Q stacks on you, do not auto-attack before engaging because that consumes stacks and adds burst damage to their retaliation.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave early to deny Locke safe Q poke and force them to last-hit under tower, which reduces their ability to stack nails on you freely.
  • Once you hit 6, consider freezing near your tower to bait Locke into overextending for a kill, since your all-in is stronger when you have stolen R available.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not fight Locke while their W is active — the true damage is manageable but the attack speed combined with passive on-hit and nail stack consumption will shred you faster than your sustain can compensate.
  • Wait for W to expire or be recast before committing to a full trade.
