Who Wins

  • You lose pre-6 due to Illaoi's superior sustain and zone control, but you can poke safely with Q from range.

How to Trade

  • Your optimal trading pattern is Q poke from max range followed by immediate retreat, never allowing her to respond with E or W.
  • Only commit to extended trades with W-E combo if she wastes her E on minions or misses it entirely.

Wave Control

  • You should maintain distance and look for slow pushes to poke her under tower, where tentacles are limited and she can't set up her zone control.
  • Hard shove and roam when possible, as you scale better in teamfights than in the 1v1.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never fight near multiple tentacles or when she has R available after landing E, as you will lose the sustained damage trade.
