Who Wins
- Pre-6, Hwei heavily outranges you and can stack poke with his long-range abilities while you lack reliable gap-close; you lose extended trades at all early levels unless you land E to close distance and force a short trade with Q empowered auto.
- Post-6, your R fundamentally changes the dynamic by removing you from the lane entirely to impact other fights, but in a pure 1v1 at level 6 Hwei still wins if he respects your E and kites properly.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to wait for Hwei to misposition or waste a key ability, then E through his body to proc the taunt, immediately Q him for the energy restore and damage, and W to block his follow-up burst before disengaging; short trades heavily favor you over extended ones where his sustained poke accumulates.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently using Q to farm safely under threat of poke, then look to freeze near your tower when possible to deny Hwei roam windows and force him to overextend for CS; a frozen wave also lets you punish his melee CS attempts with E-taunt combos.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade without your E available — Hwei can freely poke you down with his long-range abilities and disengage before you can respond, so engaging without E means eating free damage with no meaningful trade back.
