Who Wins
- Pre-6, you win most extended trades due to your passive health scaling, W shield absorption, and raw damage output — Locke needs Q stacks and E setup to deal meaningful burst, which takes time you can punish by walking up and forcing trades before stacks are applied.
- Post-6, the matchup becomes more dangerous because R's execution threshold and 99% slow can set up a kill even through your tankiness, so you must respect Locke's all-in window when R is active.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to absorb the first Q nail, then immediately close the gap and force a W trade before Locke can stack more nails or reposition with E — your W shield is most valuable when Locke tries to cash in stacked damage, so time it to eat the E-W burst rather than wasting it on poke.
- Avoid prolonged back-and-forth exchanges where Locke can freely stack Q and reset E on minions to reposition.
Wave Control
- Push the wave hard and look to crash it before engaging, as Locke's E blink and reset mechanic makes fighting in a spread wave risky — a crashed wave removes Locke's ability to use minions for E resets and limits escape options.
- Under-tower pressure also reduces the space Locke needs to safely stack Q from range before committing.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk into a pre-stacked Q situation where Locke already has 2–3 marks on you before you engage — this is the single biggest mistake Sett players make, as it means your W shield is absorbing a fully empowered E-W combo rather than a partial one.
- If you see Q stacks accumulating, either back off to let them expire or force an immediate all-in before Locke can execute the full setup.
