Who Wins

  • You win pre-6 through superior trading tools and mobility, as your Q-W-E combo allows you to engage, stun, and disengage while Master Yi only has basic attacks and W sustain.
  • Post-6 the matchup becomes more volatile since his R gives him immunity to your W slow and massive movement speed, but you still have the advantage if you can bait out his Q or fight when his R is down.

How to Trade

  • Your optimal trading pattern is Q1-Q2-auto-W-auto-Q3-E away to maximize damage while minimizing his retaliation window.
  • Never use your full combo without your E available for escape, as Master Yi can run you down with autos if you're stuck in melee range without mobility.

Wave Control

  • Push early levels to establish lane priority and deny him farm, as Master Yi scales better into teamfights and you want to build an early advantage.
  • After level 6, maintain wave control in the center or slightly pushed to your side so you have room to kite backwards if he engages with R.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never fight him in extended trades without cooldowns, especially post-6 when his R is active, as his sustained DPS with autos and E true damage will outdamage you.
  • Don't waste your W when his Q is available, as he can easily dodge the stun and leave you vulnerable to an all-in.
