Who Wins
- You win pre-6 through superior early game damage and mobility, with level 2 being a significant spike where Q+W combo can chunk Malzahar heavily.
- Post-6 you lose the 1v1 as Malzahar's R completely shuts down your engage potential and his sustained damage with voidlings becomes too much to handle.
How to Trade
- Your optimal trading pattern is Q poke followed by W+E+Q when Malzahar uses abilities on minions, then immediately back off before he can retaliate.
- Never commit to extended trades as his E+W combo will out-damage you over time, especially once he has Lost Chapter.
Wave Control
- Push early waves hard with Q to establish level and recall advantages, then look to roam once Malzahar hits 6.
- You cannot match his waveclear post-6, so focus on creating advantages elsewhere rather than trying to contest farm in lane.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never engage with W when Malzahar has R available, as you'll be instantly suppressed and likely die to his full combo.
- Don't waste your E trying to block his E damage over time, as it will spread regardless and you'll lose your main defensive tool.
