Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win the 2v2 at level 2 when you have both your Q and W — your hook into passive root chain gives Kalista enough time to stack spears and rend for a kill on either Miss Fortune or Rakan.
  • Post-6, you still win if you can hook Miss Fortune before she channels R, but Rakan's post-6 engage speed means you must react quickly to his W initiation.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best trading pattern is to hook Miss Fortune specifically — she is immobile and your passive root will keep her locked down long enough for Kalista to stack full spears.
  • Avoid hooking Rakan as your primary target since his W dash can make him a moving target and he has a shield to absorb some damage.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You should roam post-6 when Kalista has enough items to solo manage the wave, as your R provides strong gank assistance in mid lane and your hook can set up kills from fog of war.
  • Do not roam if the wave is in a state where Miss Fortune can freely dive Kalista — your presence in lane is more valuable when the matchup is close.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste your Q hook on Rakan when he has his W available — he will simply dash away mid-flight or immediately after landing, and your primary CC tool will be on cooldown during the critical window.
  • Patience with your hook is essential; wait for Rakan to commit his W before engaging.
