Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you open with Q to apply bleed and send packmates in simultaneously before Ambessa can proc her passive shield; if she has already procced her passive shield before your engage, disengage and reset because her shield and sustain will outlast your burst window.
From level 6, your R is your guaranteed kill condition — use it to reset packmates and re-engage after Ambessa burns her E dash, as she has no reliable escape once her mobility is on cooldown and your full combo with fresh dogs will delete her.

Ambessa will likely start top-side (Red or Blue depending on spawn) and path efficiently through her clear, looking to contest scuttle around 3:15 and potentially invade your second buff; she has strong dueling at all stages so expect her to play aggressively around objectives and look for early skirmishes in river.

You should not invade Ambessa early unless you have a clear level or health advantage, as her E-W passive proc gives her strong 1v1 trading at all stages of the early game; instead, focus on clearing efficiently and looking for gank pressure on pushed lanes to build a gold lead before contesting her directly.
If you do invade, do so at her second buff around 3:00 when her packmates are healthy and her first buff is nearly expired, targeting a location where she cannot easily escape your Q root.

Do not engage Ambessa when your packmates are dead or on cooldown — without them your damage drops dramatically and she will simply out-sustain and out-trade you with her passive shield and Q resets.
Avoid fighting her in tight jungle corridors where her E dashes are maximally effective and you cannot reposition to avoid her W empowered auto, as she will chain her combo faster than you can respond.
