Who Wins
- You win pre-6 through superior range and wave control with W, but Swain can trade back effectively if he lands E-W combo.
- Post-6 Swain becomes significantly stronger as his R provides sustain and teamfight presence that your single-target lockdown cannot match.
How to Trade
- Your optimal trading is to W the wave while poking with Q when Swain steps up for CS, then immediately back off to avoid his E-W return trade.
- Never commit to extended trades as his passive healing and Q sustain will out-trade your burst over time.
Wave Control
- Push waves with W to maintain range advantage and force Swain to CS under tower where he's more vulnerable to Q picks.
- Avoid slow-pushing as this gives him opportunities to land E-W combos when you're extended in lane.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never use E preemptively or waste it on his Q poke - save it specifically for his E pull as getting caught by E-W-passive combo will chunk you heavily.
- Don't try to match his roaming post-6 as his R makes him much stronger in skirmishes than your utility-focused kit.
