Who Wins
- You win pre-6 through superior range and mana efficiency, as your W outranges Ryze's Q and you can farm safely while poking.
- Post-6 you lose all-ins as Ryze's R setup into full combo outdamages your single rotation even with R.
How to Trade
- You want to W the wave and Ryze simultaneously, then follow with Q if he steps forward to trade back.
- Avoid extended trades as Ryze's Q spam with passive stacks will outdamage your cooldown-gated abilities.
Wave Control
- You should push waves with W to create roam timers and deny Ryze his preferred freeze scenarios.
- Keep the wave moving to prevent him from setting up his ideal scaling farm patterns.
Mistakes to Avoid
- You must not waste Q on minions or use it predictably when Ryze has E available, as he can E-W you during your Q animation.
- Missing Q against Ryze gives him a massive trading window where you have no threat.
