Who Wins
- Pre-6 you dominate through superior range and consistent Q poke while he struggles to respond effectively.
- Post-6 you maintain lane control but must respect his R roam potential and potential all-ins if you're caught without E or W available.
How to Trade
- Use Q to poke whenever it's available while maintaining distance, then follow up with auto attacks enhanced by your passive stacks.
- When he tries to engage, use W to reflect his Q damage back and gain movement speed to kite away while continuing to stack Overwhelm.
Wave Control
- Maintain a slow push to keep minions between you and Ryze while using Q to poke and farm simultaneously.
- This forces him to choose between taking poke or losing CS, while your superior range lets you control the wave state safely.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't waste W defensively against his basic abilities when his jungler might be nearby, as you'll need it to survive ganks.
- Avoid using E aggressively without vision as it's your only hard CC and missing it leaves you vulnerable to his all-in potential with R.
