Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose this lane convincingly.
- Zilean's double Q slow-bomb combo at level 2 chunks you hard before you can gap-close, and your Q does not make you untargetable long enough to dodge both bombs reliably; post-6, your R gives you enough sustain and kill threat that a single overextension from Zilean becomes a death, but his R negates your all-in unless you can force him to burn it on a minion or teammate first.
How to Trade
- Your best trade is to wait for Zilean to misposition or waste his W (rewind) on something non-essential, then E in and commit a full Q-auto-E combo before he can double-bomb you; if he has both bombs available and W up, do not engage — you will lose the trade and be left slowed with no escape.
Wave Control
- Push the wave hard and look to shove Zilean under tower, because he has no meaningful wave clear early and you can force him to take tower damage or lose CS; however, be cautious about diving him early since his tower-dive safety with R is exceptional and he can simply undo your kill.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not tunnel into extended trades thinking your passive healing will save you — Zilean's double Q stun locks you in place long enough to negate your sustain, and standing still while slowed and stunned means you take full auto-attack damage from him with no counterplay.
