Who Wins
- You win pre-6 through superior range and burst potential, especially at level 2 when you gain Q-E combo for guaranteed damage.
- Post-6 you maintain advantage since your R has longer range than Smolder's R and you can one-shot him if he steps up carelessly.
How to Trade
- Your optimal trading pattern is Q-E-auto when Smolder goes for CS, then immediately back off to avoid his Q poke response.
- Never try to extended trade since his W gives him sustain and his Q will out-DPS you in longer fights.
Wave Control
- Push early levels to establish range advantage and deny his Q stacking, then maintain slow push or freeze near your tower.
- You want to prevent him from safely farming and stacking while keeping the wave in a position where you can land Q-E combos.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't waste Q on minions when Smolder is in range to punish you, as you become completely vulnerable without your root.
