Who Wins
- You win levels 1-3 through superior range and E poke, but Malzahar can match your waveclear once he gets multiple points in E.
- At level 6, Malzahar becomes extremely dangerous as his R guarantees death if you're caught without cleanse or flash, while your burst requires hitting Q first.
How to Trade
- Your optimal trading pattern involves using E to poke while staying at maximum range, then backing off before Malzahar can respond with Q-E combo.
- Never commit to extended trades as his E damage over time and voidling spawns will out-damage your cooldown-dependent burst.
Wave Control
- Push early waves with E to establish priority before Malzahar's E becomes efficient, then transition to freezing or slow pushing when he reaches level 4-5.
- Avoid hard shoving post-6 as it leaves you vulnerable to ganks with his R setup.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never use Q aggressively for poke as it's your only escape tool against his R engage - missing it means certain death to jungle ganks.
