Who Wins

Pre-6, Viktor wins the lane if you try to all-in without full nail stacks because his Q shield absorbs your burst and his W stun interrupts your E dash before you can cash in the combo — you need to respect his W placement and only commit to trades when you have 3 Q stacks and his W is on cooldown.
Post-6, you gain a significant kill threat because your R execution threshold combined with W true damage bypasses his shield entirely, and a properly setup R into E-W combo can kill him before his R storm accumulates meaningful damage.

Your optimal trading pattern is to stack Q nails from max range while staying outside his E laser path, then wait for him to use W aggressively or miss it before dashing in with E to consume stacks and immediately activating W for the true damage burst — the W recast heal gives you survivability if he tries to fight back with his R.
Never initiate with E before you have at least 2 Q stacks on him, as your burst without nail stacks is insufficient to threaten a Viktor who has his Q shield ready.

Play for a slower wave state by letting Viktor push into you, which gives you safe Q stacking opportunities as he walks up to last-hit — a pushed wave also means his W gravity field is harder to place aggressively without overextending, giving you more room to set up your combo without being zoned.
After collecting sealed souls from your R, your execution threshold increases permanently, so prioritize landing R in skirmishes even if the kill is not guaranteed, as the threshold scaling compounds over the game.

Do not activate W reactively just to survive his E poke, because you will waste the true damage window and the heal on a small trade rather than saving it for a full all-in that can actually kill him — W is your all-in commit button, not a defensive tool for minor trades.
Avoid using E to engage when his W is clearly available on the ground, as getting stunned mid-dash cancels your attack reset and leaves you in melee range with no escape while his R damages you.
