Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Vex's passive fear and long-range Q poke make it difficult to stack your Q nails safely — she can interrupt your setup with a well-timed fear before you ever reach E range, and her W shield absorbs burst windows.
  • Post-6, your R's execution threshold and E reset potential give you a real kill condition, but only if you've built enough nail stacks beforehand and can bait out her W shield before committing.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to stack Q nails from max range during Vex's cooldown windows, then wait for her W shield to be down before using E to blink in and cash out the stacked damage with your W active — committing E into an active Vex W shield wastes your primary burst window and leaves you exposed.
  • Never initiate the E dash while Vex still has her passive fear ready, as the CC will interrupt your follow-up attacks and drain your W true damage without the healing payoff.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave hard with Q to force Vex to use her abilities defensively on wave clear rather than poking you, since her mana costs are meaningful early and she struggles to both clear and harass simultaneously.
  • Avoid letting the wave slow-push toward you, as Vex excels at poking you under tower while you're forced to last-hit, negating your ability to safely build nail stacks for an all-in.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use E as an opener without pre-stacked Q nails — your burst is entirely dependent on the nail stack multiplier, and a naked E blink into Vex deals minimal damage while putting you in melee range of her fear and R follow-up.
  • Burning E without stacks is the single most common way to lose this lane, as it signals your all-in without the damage to back it up.
