Who Wins
- You lose all-ins pre-6 due to Volibear's Q gap-close and sustained damage with W bite and passive lightning.
- Post-6 you can start winning trades with R safety net and ranged autos, but Volibear can still threaten all-ins if you misposition.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is short E-enhanced auto attacks when Volibear goes for CS, then immediately backing off before he can Q onto you.
- Never commit to extended trades pre-6 as his W healing and passive damage will overwhelm you.
Wave Control
- You want to freeze the wave near your tower early to farm safely, then slow push when you get some items and levels to build up minion advantages.
- Avoid hard shoving without vision as Volibear excels at setting up ganks with his Q and E.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't get baited into fighting in his minion waves where his passive will spread lightning damage and give him additional sustain from W.
- Also avoid using R defensively too early - save it for when you're actually in lethal range, not just taking poke.
