Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose the 2v2.
- Tristana outranges you significantly at all early levels, and Malphite's Q slow makes it nearly impossible to stick to her or dodge trades cleanly; you are forced to play passive and farm under threat.
- Post-6, you gain kill threat with your R gap-close onto Tristana, but Malphite's R one-shots you if you overextend, so the 2v2 remains dangerous unless Nautilus lands his hook first.
Synergy & Trading
- Your best pattern is to let Nautilus hook Malphite first, then stack your passive on Malphite rather than Tristana, since Malphite has no mobility and your W evolved damage shreds him; never dive Tristana without Malphite being CC'd because her E knock-back resets your entire engage.
- Avoid extended trades at full health against Tristana's range advantage — short burst windows after a Nautilus hook are your only safe damage windows.
Wave Control/Roaming
- You want a slow push into a freeze-break pattern: let the wave build slightly in your favor so Tristana is forced to step up to CS under threat of Nautilus hooks, but never hard shove early because Tristana's E lets her reset and disengage any dive attempt.
- Pushing the wave under tower also removes Tristana's explosive charge reset value on minions, which limits her all-in threat.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your R aggressively onto Tristana without Nautilus CC landing first — her E knock-back will interrupt your stealth window and send you flying away with no follow-up, burning your cooldown for nothing.
- Also avoid standing at max range passively farming; Tristana's Q attack speed combined with her range means she wins sustained poke wars even at distance.
