Who Wins
- You lose early trades pre-6 due to Jayce's superior range and poke damage, but you can start winning all-ins post-6 if you land E and force extended fights.
- Your level 1-2 is particularly weak as Jayce can freely poke you with Q while you lack meaningful retaliation.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to land E on Jayce, then immediately W the spirit while using Q to hit both Jayce and the spirit for maximum damage and tentacle spawns.
- Only commit to extended trades when you have multiple tentacles nearby and your E lands, as short trades heavily favor Jayce's burst.
Wave Control
- You want to push waves early to get tentacles established around the lane, but be prepared to give up CS when Jayce has range advantage and poke pressure.
- Focus on slow-pushing into crashes rather than freezing, as you need tentacle setup more than denying CS.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Never chase Jayce through the lane without landing E first, as he can kite you indefinitely with his range and mobility.
- Don't waste your E on minions or use it when Jayce can easily sidestep behind minions, as it's your only tool to force favorable trades.
