Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your Q into the wall for the double-hit and maintain distance with E to avoid Xin Zhao's W slow and knockup combo; your burst window is tight but favorable if you kite properly rather than standing still.
  • From level 6, you win 1v1 by using E to reposition behind Xin Zhao after he commits his E knockup, then unloading your full combo at close range where your shotgun spread deals maximum damage before he can chain another knockup.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Xin Zhao typically starts Red Buff side and paths through Raptors or Wolves into Scuttle, often looking for an early level 3 gank on a pushed side lane before contesting objectives; he favors aggressive early pathing because his dueling power peaks at levels 3-5.
  • Expect him to mirror your path if he knows your start, or to take a short clear and look for a level 2 invade on your second camp if he starts on the opposite side of the map.

Invade or Not

  • You can invade Xin Zhao at his second buff after he clears his first camp, ideally around 2:15-2:30 at the buff he started opposite to; your burst at level 2 with Q and basic attacks is strong enough to force a flash or secure a kill if he is low from clearing.
  • However, avoid invading into his Red Buff side early if he started there, as he will be at full health with the buff active and his W sustain will outlast your burst window.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Xin Zhao close the gap and land his E knockup while you are at full ammo without an E dodge ready, because eating a full W slow into E knockup into basic attack chain removes your ability to kite and turns the fight entirely in his favor.
  • Avoid using E aggressively into him as an engage tool; it is your escape and repositioning option, and burning it offensively leaves you with no answer to his gap-close.
