Who Wins

  • You lose most pre-6 all-ins due to Volibear's gap-close and sustain, but can win through consistent Q poke and barrel harassment.
  • Post-6 you still lose extended 1v1s, but your barrel combos and R can turn fights or help you escape.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading is Q poke followed by immediate spacing, using barrels to zone him from engaging on you.
  • Never take extended trades unless you have a significant health advantage, as his W healing and passive damage win longer fights.

Wave Control

  • You need to maintain distance and farm safely, using Q and barrels to last-hit while staying out of his Q range.
  • Push only when you can place barrels defensively, as getting frozen on makes you extremely vulnerable to his all-ins.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't waste W on minor poke damage instead of saving it for his engage, as his Q-W combo can kill you if you can't cleanse the slow.
  • Avoid fighting in open areas without barrel setups, as you need the terrain control to have any chance in extended trades.
