Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win most extended trades if you can land your Q through his W passive zone and proc vitals consistently — Ekko's early damage relies on landing his Q slow and stacking his W passive, so if you respect his W radius and sidestep his Q, you out-sustain and out-damage him in short-to-medium trades.
  • Post-6, the matchup becomes significantly harder because his R gives him a full reset with healing, meaning he can all-in you, take damage, then R back to safety with health restored, making it nearly impossible to kill him without burning his R first.

How to Trade

  • Your best pattern is to bait out his W passive by walking in and out of its radius without fully committing, then engage once the shield is on cooldown — land your Q to proc a vital, auto-attack, E through his retaliation, and disengage before his W can fully stack.
  • Avoid extended fights where he can freely stack his W passive on you, as the shield value becomes enormous and negates your sustained damage advantage.

Wave Control

  • You want to push the wave consistently to deny him roam potential, since Ekko mid is a roam-heavy champion and his R makes him extremely dangerous in skirmishes around the map.
  • Shoving and following his roams is preferable to letting him snowball side lanes, but be cautious about chasing him into jungle where his W zone is harder to avoid.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not commit your R purely as a defensive tool when he has his R available — if you ult to survive and he simply Rs back to full health, you've wasted your win condition and he resets the fight on his terms.
  • Always track his R cooldown and look to force fights when it's down, as that is your primary window to actually kill him.
