Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose the poke war at levels 1–2 due to Kennen's range, but at level 3 your E gives you a reliable gap-close that forces a real fight where your W true damage and sustained trading pattern outclass his burst if you can stick to him.
- Post-6, his R is a serious threat because it stuns you inside and you cannot E out once it's cast on you — you need to use your own R preemptively to isolate him before he can R, or the 1v1 becomes very difficult for you.
How to Trade
- Your best pattern is to wait for him to Q poke and step slightly forward, then immediately E onto him and activate W to apply the slow and true damage zone — he cannot out-trade you in a sustained fight if you are inside his face with W active.
- Follow up with autos and Q to proc your passive shield before he can stack enough marks for a stun, and disengage with E if he gets close to a stun proc.
Wave Control
- Let the wave push toward you early so you can farm safely under tower and avoid his Q poke range — a wave crashing into your tower removes his ability to freely poke you and forces him to either dive or back off.
- Once you hit level 3 and have E, look to shove the wave back and create a freeze near your tower to force him into dangerous territory when he tries to CS.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your E aggressively if his stun is ready to proc — walking into a stun while your E is on cooldown means you are trapped in his range with no escape and he can freely auto and Q you.
- Also never use your R after he has already cast his R, as you will be trapped inside it with him and he will stun you repeatedly while your R isolation provides no escape value.
