Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Xin Zhao because your W's sustained damage and self-healing outpace his burst window, and your E engage gives you the initiative to dictate when the fight starts.
  • From level 6, you win extended 1v1s decisively as long as you avoid getting knocked up by his E mid-trade, since your R removes your ability to disengage and commits you fully — use it only when he has already burned his E knockup.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Xin Zhao typically runs a standard full clear starting red or blue side depending on spawn, then looks to contest scuttle at level 3 with his strong early E-Q-W combo.
  • He often transitions into early ganks on pushed lanes after scuttle, so track his pathing by watching which side river he appears on first.

Invade or Not

  • You should invade Xin Zhao at his second buff (around 3:15–3:30) after he has cleared his first three camps, as he will be low on health and you can force a fight on his weakened state.
  • Target his blue or red buff depending on his starting side — if he starts red, invade his blue; this denies tempo and forces him to either fight you at a disadvantage or cede the camp.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use your E to engage and then immediately blow your W without confirming his E is on cooldown — if he lands his E knockup while you are mid-W channel, you lose the trade window entirely and your healing is interrupted.
  • Overcommitting with R when he still has E available is a guaranteed death since you cannot disengage and he can knock you up to reset the fight in his favor.
