Who Wins

  • You win pre-6 trades through superior range and mobility, as your Q poke and E dash allow you to trade favorably while avoiding Swain's E-W combo.
  • Post-6 becomes much more difficult as Swain's R gives him massive sustain and damage in extended fights that you cannot match.

How to Trade

  • Your optimal trading pattern is Q poke followed by E dash in for W-auto-Q2 if he's low, then immediately E dash out before he can land E on you.
  • Never commit to extended trades as his passive healing and higher base damages will win longer engagements.

Wave Control

  • Push early waves with Q to establish priority, then look to roam or back for items before he hits level 6.
  • After 6, focus on freezing near your tower where you can safely farm and avoid his all-in potential.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Never use your E aggressively without vision of enemy jungler, as you have no escape tools once it's down and Swain's E can easily set up ganks.
  • Avoid trading when he has passive stacks ready, as the healing will negate your poke damage.
