Who Wins

  • Pre-6 you have a meaningful range advantage and can poke Riven with your Q and autos while she tries to farm, but at level 3 Riven gains her full Q chain and W stun which makes her dangerous if she closes the gap — post-6, your R gives you a strong disengage and repositioning tool that makes Riven's all-in significantly harder to execute cleanly.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to use your ranged Q to stack passive and proc your empowered auto from range, then use E to reposition or escape if Riven dashes toward you — you want to avoid extended melee exchanges entirely and instead win through repeated short poke trades where Riven cannot fully commit her combo.

Wave Control

  • You want to keep the wave slightly on your side of the lane or even, which gives you a safe retreat path to tower if Riven engages, and you can use your Q to push the wave efficiently when needed — avoid letting Riven crash waves into your tower repeatedly, as she will use that time to roam or reset with full cooldowns while you're stuck farming under pressure.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste your E offensively or use it to trade into Riven, as it is your primary escape tool and losing it means Riven can freely all-in you with no counterplay — many Aurora players burn E aggressively and then get caught by a full Riven combo with no way to disengage.
