Who Wins
- You lose pre-6 due to Xerath's superior range and poke pressure, but you become significantly stronger post-6 when your R gives you zone control and waveclear to match his pushing power.
- Your passive also makes his poke-heavy playstyle much less effective in all-in scenarios.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to bait his abilities by positioning aggressively, then immediately Q-E when he steps up to harass you with Q.
- Use your W to cut off his escape routes and force him into unfavorable positions where your burst combo becomes guaranteed.
Wave Control
- Focus on surviving the early laning phase and scaling to your power spikes rather than trying to match his push early.
- Once you have R, use it to clear waves instantly and create opportunities to roam or force objectives where your teamfight presence is superior.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't waste your Q trying to poke him at max range as good Xerath players will easily sidestep it and punish you with return poke.
- Save your Q for guaranteed setups when he's locked in animation or overextends, as missing it leaves you completely vulnerable to his combo.
