LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you win most extended trades if you land your Q dash combo and keep pressure on Shen's W energy costs — Shen's W is expensive and he cannot sustain the energy drain of blocking your repeated Q engages, so you should be forcing trades every time his W is on cooldown.
- Post-6, the matchup becomes more volatile because Shen's R gives him global pressure and he can disengage or stall until his jungler arrives, but in a pure 1v1 you still edge him out if you can bait his W before committing your full combo.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use your first Q dash to bait out Shen's W, then immediately back off and wait for the block window to expire before re-engaging with your second Q and E to maximize damage in the window where he has no defensive tool active.
- Never dump your full combo into an active W — you will deal almost nothing and waste your cooldowns while Shen resets the trade on his terms.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave early and repeatedly to deny Shen the ability to roam with his R without losing CS and tower pressure — a pushed wave also forces Shen to last-hit under tower, which limits his ability to poke you with his Q.
- Avoid letting the wave freeze near his tower because Shen is a strong freeze holder and you lack the sustained ranged pressure to safely break a freeze without taking free Q poke.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not blindly all-in Shen when his R is available and the wave is near his side of the map — he can simply R away to a teammate, leaving you overextended and potentially collapsed on by the jungler.
- Track his R cooldown and only commit to kill attempts when you know his R is down or when you have enough burst to kill him before the channel completes.
